The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) made a recommendation to withdraw Portage College’s CMA accreditation last week. The reason this occurred was due to a lack of evidence in the validation of a competency standard surrounding documentation on practicums. AHS Funding to drop as much as 60% in coming year

Portage College recently received word that Alberta Human Services (AHS) is prepared to cut as much as 60% of their Skills Investment Plan (SIP) funding starting in the 2014-2015 academic year. Portage College cuts more than $4 million from 2013-14 budget

Portage College has cut 10 per cent from its 2013-2014 budget. The hit of -7.3% to the college’s base grant was in addition to the normal operating cost increases associated with contractual obligations.
