OMAHA, Neb. — In April, an search committee of trustees was framed with the objective of creating include on criteria for Creighton University’s 25th president.
After more than nine months of dialog in the middle of understudies and staff, graduated class and staff, Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson was named president Sunday.
Hendrickson was brought up in Fremont, moving on from Mt. Michael Benedectine High School in Elkhorn. He moved west to go to Marquette University, graduating with a B.A. in brain research and philosophy, before entering the Society of Jesus.
He has graduate degrees from Columbia, Fordham and Santa Clara colleges and his Ph.d. dropped by method for Columbia. Before Sunday, Hendrickson had served on the Board of Trustees of Creighton University, Boston College and Xavier University – all Jesuit establishments – and in the executive’s office at Marquette University.
“It got to be clear that crosswise over Creighton there is incredible enthusiasm toward extending the University’s association with its mission,” said Julie Hefflinger, a part of the Board of Trustees, an inquiry council part and president of the Creighton University National Alumni Board. “Our alums have an enduring association with the remarkable Jesuit training they got at Creighton, so it is something they need to see continue for quite a long time to come,” she said.
Scott Heider, seek board of trustees part and seat of the Heider College of Business Board, said, “Fr. Hendrickson brings a sharp understanding of the estimation of a Jesuit instruction. His worldwide showing background and his academic motivation, concentrated on Jesuit educating, makes him especially decently arranged to develop Creighton’s association with its mission.”
He will take office on July 1, 2015, succeeding break President J. Chris Bradberry.
