NAFSA is pleased to announce that Shiza Shahid, Cofounder and Ambassador of the Malala Fund, will be a Plenary Speaker at the NAFSA 2015 Annual Conference & Expo in Boston, Massachusetts Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
Shahid works with Malala Yousafzai in their ongoing worldwide efforts to empower girls through education. Yousafzai was just awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in October, making her the youngest ever peace prize winner at age 17.
While growing up in Pakistan, Shahid volunteered in multiple social advocacy projects, especially to improve conditions and create opportunities for women in her country. After Yousafzai survived a near-fatal attack by the Taliban in 2012, Shahid used her entrepreneurial skills to help create the Malala Fund.
Named one of TIME magazine’s “30 Under 30 World Changers” and to the Forbes “30 Under 30” list of social entrepreneurs, Shahid’s experiences and insights gained in her campaign advocating for girls’ right to educational access will make for a powerful and engaging event at this year’s Annual Convention.
