Hyderabad, October 28, 2013: Building on its commitment to the development of the youth in Andhra Pradesh, Aircel in association with Chaitanya Mahila Mandili (CMM) organized a felicitation ceremony for underprivileged youth of the a+ centre. The students who successfully completed Retail and Marketing program were given certificates which will empower them towards a sustainable future. This initiative, is a part of Aircel’s a+ programme working towards bridging the digital divide in India to empower underprivileged youth with computer education and vocational training. The students at the centre are trained in MS Excel, Retail and Marketing program and Soft skills such as spoken English/Personality development.

Hardeep Johar, Circle Operations Head, Andhra Pradesh, Aircel, said, “Aircel has been continuously contributing towards empowering the youth in India since 2010.  The youth comprise a substantial 21% of Andhra Pradesh’s population and we want to channelize their energies into something meaningful. Unemployment is a big menace in the state due to lack of impactful skill development programs. With the launch of the unique Aircel a+ initiative, Aircel hopes to contribute in a little way towards empowering our youth”.

He added, “Aircel has been running Aircel a+ centres in Hyderabad and other regions such as Pune, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. These centers have benefitted over 9200 students in the last 3 years. Our a+ centers enable education and vocational training to the underprivileged youth which empowers them to get employment opportunities.”

Aircel has partnered with various reputed and credible training partners to reach out to students and their parents. In Andhra Pradesh, Aircel has associated with the NGO ‘Chaitanya Mahila Mandili (CMM)’ to run these centres.
