Through the new wander, called the 2+2 Education Program, understudies who have earned their partner of expressions degree at TCC, or at other adjacent group universities or colleges, can request admission to the Saint Martin’s four year certification in liberal arts degree programs in primary training or specialized curriculum. Hopefuls acknowledged into the project can then take Saint Martin’s courses for two years to finish their degree, however bring the coursework with Saint Martin’s employees on the TCC grounds.

The project is particularly beneficial for working understudies, since courses are planned in the late evenings and nights, with some on Saturdays. Likewise with other Saint Martin’s projects in training, this one spots educator instruction understudies into school classrooms regularly to watch and do hands on work encounters. Classes, arrangement for Washington’s state evaluation for instructor certificate (edtpa) and a semester-long showing internship top the coursework, she says.
Albeit just the primary instruction and custom curriculum supports are right now offered, the University is working with TCC to create and offer an underwriting (a territory of showing skill) in ahead of schedule adolescence training and may include others, based the needs of understudies who need to enter the project, she says. Instruction understudies must have no less than two supports to procure an educator affirmation from Saint Martin’s.
Westgard says the joint project is remarkable at Saint Martin’s in that it brings another chance to understudies intrigued by instructing in a urban school setting: “Most understudies at Saint Martin’s fundamental facilities in Lacey take showing internships in suburban or provincial settings, yet since this system is offered in Tacoma, the understudies can decide to understudy in a nature’s domain. That opportunity gives an option set of learning and aptitudes for people who need to wind up ‘urban teachers’.”
