Parents of infants and toddlers are invited to attend one of three focus groups coming up in Rockhampton, Mackay and South Brisbane during July to provide input for a comprehensive study of community perspectives regarding sleep and settling strategies for infants and toddlers.
The focus groups will give parents the chance to share their experiences, thoughts and concerns about sleep and settling strategies in infants and toddlers.
Researcher Hayley Etherton, from CQUniversity’s Appleton Institute in Adelaide, said while sleep experts know that the impact of sleep and settling problems in young children is extensive (up to 40% of new parents), they know little about the strategies and methods used by parents to cope with sleep issues and the decisions to pursue some and not others.
Hayley will be running focus groups with parents of 6-18 month olds at:
South Brisbane (51 Edmondstone St) – Monday July 7 – Childhood Australia’s South Brisbane Family Centre – 9:30-11am OR 11:30-1pm;
Rockhampton (254 Eldon Street, Opposite Frenchville Sports Club) – Wednesday July 9 – Umbrella Network – 9:30-11am OR 11:30-1pm;
Mackay (43 Shakespeare Street, East Mackay) – Thursday July 10 – Shakespeare Child and Family Centre – 9:30-11am OR 11:30-1pm
