NAFSA – Annual Conference & Expo set to begin on May 27th 2014 in San Diego, California for 4 days. The theme of this 66th Annual Conference & Expo would be Pathways to Global Competence and is expected to have 8,000 education, immigration, and foreign policy experts from 100 countries to come together and share insights, data, and new trends that will impact higher education around the world.
All the 4 days will have a plenary address and as always once again NAFSA has some of the renowned global leaders who are committed to building a more secure, peaceful, and better world.
The opening plenary address on 27th May 2014 will be given by Anna Deavere Smith, actress, playwright, and social commentator. Smith is best known for her documentary theatre style in plays and has been a solo performer in some of her play performing multiple and diverse characters.
The 2nd day plenary would be given by José Manuel Ramos-Horta, United Nations special representative and head of the UN Integrated Peace building Office in Guinea-Bissau also the co-recipient of the 1996 Nobel Peace Prize
The plenary on the 3rd day would be addressed by Kakenya Ntaiya, educator, activist, founder of Kakenya Center for Excellence who has always worked to empower the girls and help them fulfill their dream for education & career.
The closing plenary address on 30th May 2014 will be given by Albie Sachs, freedom fighter against apartheid, former judge in South Africa. Sachs has 14 honorary degrees across four continents and his career in human rights activism started at the age of seventeen.
There will be 195 conference sessions in these four days with about 400+ speakers sharing their experiences, case studies, researches and the International Education Expo Hall will feature exhibitors representing hundreds of organizations from around the world, including colleges and universities, study abroad and intensive-English programs, embassies and government agencies and more.
There will be some workshops, poster fairs, presentations, receptions that will be organized during this conference to keep everyone high on networking.
