The Supreme Court issued notices to nine universities over the registration and affiliation of law colleges and the appointment of new Chairman of the committee formed to investigate the affiliation of law colleges.
The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani resumed hearing of the case regarding mushroom growth of law colleges in the country. At the outset of hearing, Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan Sajid Ilyas Bhatti informed the court that Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid’s name was suggested to chair the committee but he refused.
The Legal Adviser of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs told the court that the ministry was seeking new names after the refusal of Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam and after consensus on one name, the summary would be sent to the government for final approval. The court adjourned hearing till June, 11. (The News)
