Punjab University and Turkey’s Selcuk University and Bayburt University signed memorandums of understanding to enhance cooperation. The signing ceremony was held at the vice chancellor’s office.
VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Registrar Prof Dr Amin Athar, Turbat University VC Dr Abdur Razzaq, Director of External Linkages Maria I Maldonado, Selcuk University Rector Hakki Gokbel, Vice Rector Hasan Kursat, Bayburt University’s Institute of Social Sciences Director Selahattin Kaynak and Coordinator Uzman Ahmed were present on the occasion. The participants stressed the need for exchanging delegations. Dr Kamran presented commemorative portraits to the delegates. The Turkish delegations presented shields to the PU vice chancellor.
New buses for PU
Also on Tuesday, Dr Kamran announced that three new buses had been purchased for students’ conveyance. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the new buses, which have been bought at a cost of Rs24 million, the VC said these buses would ply on busy routes to accommodate students who had been facing problems. Registrar Amin Ather, Resident Officer-1 Javed Sami, Acting Treasurer Rao Muhammad Sharif and Academic Staff Association President Ehsan Sharif were also present.
Dr Kamran said that PU administration had been purchasing new buses every year. PU now has a fleet of 60 buses, largest compared to any university in Pakistan.
Sami presented a report of the university’s transport wing. He said training programs for the capacity building of bus drivers and their helpers had been organised.
