Autism mentor scheme launched at Cardiff University

Cardiff University – have launched a new scheme. The Discovery Project aims to encourage more young people to attend University. Students at Cardiff University will now mentor teenagers with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

The BBC news website states that one in three people with ASD aged between 16 and 24 are not in education, employment or training.

The Scheme will help with homework, revision and university applications as well as offering yoga and circus skills classes to help with co-ordination and social skills.

The scheme also aims to prepare the teenagers for further education.

Only 15% of adults with autism are employed in full-time work.
