University of Saskatchewan business school partners with SIIT

University of Saskatchewan

By Thomas Piller

The U of S’s Edwards School of Business and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) signed an agreement Monday that fast-tracks Aboriginal students to a commerce degree.

The partnership means that graduates of SIIT’s two-year business diploma program are on their way to completing a four-year U of S Bachelor of Commerce degree.

“This agreement establishes a clean and clear route from SIIT to the Edwards School that will develop the next generation of Aboriginal business leaders,” said Edwards’ Dean Daphne Taras.

Previously, SIIT students were not able to count all previous credits towards the university degree.

A number of specialty program streams within the transfer agreement are still being worked out, but post-secondary students can already start transferring.

This is a first partnership between Edwards and SIIT.  (Global News)
