The Ministry of Education has determined itself on the priorities for the development of higher education in the country.
The Ministry informed that the priorities were identified in the Education Development Strategy of Azerbaijan.
“The main objective of the tasks set is to create transparent and efficient environment in universities, increase the quality of higher education and form modern management,” the Ministry reported.
Within the framework of the execution of these tasks from the next academic year the MoE is going to create in public higher educational institutions groups SABAH (educated, trained, skilled) to develop a system for defining the effectiveness of universities’ activities, improve the formation of a student enrolment plan on the basis of priority specialties. It is also planned to develop a coefficient of selection of universities for participation in the state order, review programs of bachelor and master’s degree education for their compliance with European standards, create the Interuniversity Committee on the Bologna System Application.
Also, in the new academic year it is expected to launch pilot educational loan projects to create the conditions for obtaining higher education for children from poor families, start applying corporate governance system and improve the legal framework of regulating university activity, expand the use of the financial reporting system and create a system of accreditation of universities.
