University of Nebraska rejects boycott of Israeli universities

University of Nebraska

The University of Nebraska has rejected the call for a boycott of Israeli universities.

The American Studies Association has voted to boycott higher education institutions in Israel to protest the country’s treatment of Palestinians, but several U.S. universities have already come out against the boycott.

“We believe the call to boycott Israeli higher education institutions is misguided, and if successful would hinder the open pursuit of knowledge and exchange of ideas and threaten the very institutions that stand for these principles,” NU President J.B. Milliken said in a statement.

The university said the statement represents the opinion of Milliken as well as the chancellors at each of NU’s campuses.
