The English language Institute (ELI) at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) has been accorded a five-year accreditation by the US-based Commission for English-Language Program Accreditation (CEA).
Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President, received, Sunday, at his office Dr Omer Nafeef, ELI Dean, on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, Vice President for Educational Affairs, and Prof Abdul-Fattah Mashat, Acting Vice President for Development.
It has been nearly a three-year journey, initiated in 2010, from the first preparatory steps to this final notification, and the successful completion of the process owes itself to the efforts of all students, teachers, administrators and managers at the ELI, according to Dr Naseef.
Success could not have come without the full and unconditional support from upper management across all campuses and top KAU figures, he also added.
Prof Tayyeb expressed his sheer delight with the achievement, maintaining that it was a milestone to be celebrated.
Receiving this exemplary standing not only gives us pride but also serves as impetus to continue improving the quality of education we deliver and measure ourselves against international standards, he also added.
