A total of eighteen academics, scholars and advanced students from Indonesia and the Netherlands have joined forces to publish the book CSR in Indonesia: Legislative Developments and Case Studies. The internationally peer reviewed publication provides an overview of the most recent legislative developments with regards to CSR in Indonesia as well as suggestions for the further introduction of CSR in the wider legal context.
The case studies in the book reveal the necessity for the development of new CSR mechanisms in Indonesian companies, while also recommendations for innovative ways to introduce CSR are made.
The book is the result of a research project between Brawijaya University from Indonesia and Utrecht University from the Netherlands. Initiators on both sides are Dr. Afifah Kusumadara (Brawijaya) and Dr. Tineke Lambooy (Utrecht).
Dr. Kusumadara said: “The main aim of the project and the book is to enhance the interaction between research and teaching, and between research and society at large. It will provide interesting learning material in CSR courses in both countries and at the same time contribute to the wider CSR debate in which many companies in the Netherlands and Indonesia are involved”.
On the general outcomes of the research Dr. Tineke Lambooy mentioned: “this project has stimulated the academic collaboration between the two universities in the field of CSR. It has also been tremendously inspiring for young researchers of Brawijaya University and Utrecht University who benefited from the opportunity to present their papers in the international academic conference hosted by Brawijaya University.”
