This was my last year at BUiD before I graduated and I wanted to put my best foot forward in improving the quality of the SSS event in terms of content, activities and student engagement initiatives for the BUiD SSS event and wanted to put up a bigger show than last year on sustainability for the student community and try and build leaders under me who will take this project forward with Dr Hanan Taleb of BUiD”.

Ali Khalid, Team Leader of Purple team believes that each participant gained two major lessons in this event, the first is that sustainability does work and – responds to our daily life’ needs and can improve our lifestyle, the second lessons is that now they have the capability to step in their leaders shoes and play a role in sustainability, have an impact on their peers’ lives and most probably even change it for the best.

The purple team also won an award for fabricating the most sustainable piece of furniture. His teams’ project was optimization of the food court tables used in malls and other public places, the idea came as they were searching for a solution that can be applied on a mass produced product and that can enhance its environmental, economical and social criteria.

All the participants shared very positive feedback on the BUiD SSS event and felt part of the Green community wanting to contribute to its success and awareness at every stage in their life.
