Langara College has announced the appointment of Dr. Ian Humphreys as its new Vice-President, Enrolment and Business Development. In this position Dr. Humphreys will be responsible for providing institutional leadership for a portfolio that includes international education, continuing studies, institutional research, and communications and marketing.
“Dr. Humphreys’ work as Associate Vice-President of Student Development and Marketing positions him well for this appointment,” said Langara College President Dr. David Ross. “In his new role, Ian will support the College’s vision and strategic priorities through the building and expansion of these important areas.”
Dr. Humphreys joined Langara in 2006 as the Manager of Business and Technology Programs in the College’s Continuing Studies Department. In early 2009 he became Langara’s Director of Communications & Marketing, and most recently he was named the Associate Vice-President of Student Development and Marketing. He has also served as Chair of the International Education Registration Committee. Previous to his work with Langara, Dr. Humphreys spent a decade building a successful educational technology company and served as the Executive Director of the Geraldine and Tong Louie Human Performance Centre at Simon Fraser University.
“I am grateful for all of the opportunities that Langara has provided to me, and for the support that I have received from all of my colleagues,” said Dr. Humphreys. “I look forward to embracing the challenges of this new role and to working with the entire College community to cement our position as British Columbia’s leading undergraduate college.”
Dr. Humphreys received his BSc in Sport Science from Liverpool Polytechnic University in England. He received his Master of Science and Doctoral degrees from the University of Alberta.
