Prof Juanito Camilleri, Rector of the University of Malta, visited Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) yesterday to explore possibilities for co-operation in teaching and research between the two institutions. Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, SQU Vice-Chancellor, and other top officials received Prof Camilleri and his delegation. The University of Malta is the largest teaching institution in Malta with around 11,000 students.
Prof Camilleri listed a number of areas for possible co-operation between the two sides. “These include information and communication technology, engineering, criminology and sustainable environmental resources management”.
He added that the University of Malta seeks to contribute to the improvement of primary and secondary education and the forging of inter-university links to stimulate international student exchange. Both SQU and University of Malta agreed on establishing collaboration through the exchange of students and faculty members and joint research activities.
