The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama has created a new Chair in Violin to be awarded to Marius Bedeschi, currently visiting professor in violin at the College.

The Alfredo Campoli Chair, named after Marius’s renowned teacher, will formalise Marius’ role at RWCMD as an international ambassador in violin recruitment, working with the violin faculty to bring together approaches to training with a particular view to enhancing employability within the music profession.

“I am delighted to have been awarded this Chair named after my distinguished teacher, Alfredo Campoli, and look forward to working with my colleagues in the development of a world-class string department at the Royal Welsh College, “said Marius.

Dr John Cranmer, Director of Music adds, “ Marius has been a distinguished teacher here at the College for many years, and we’re delighted that we can now extend his role as part of an exciting project to create a distinctive training offer in strings which mirrors professional practice and expectations on every level.”
