UNR announces cooperative curriculum partnerships with Chinese universities

On the heels of Gov. Sandoval’s Trade Mission to the People’s Republic of China, two cooperative agreements between the University of Nevada, Reno and two leading Chinese universities were announced today.

Manos Maragakis, Dean of UNR’s College of Engineering, structured the cooperative curriculum agreements with Beijing Jiaotong University and Tongji University in Shanghai while participating in the Trade Mission arranged by Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED).

During the Trade Mission, Dean Maragakis planned a student exchange program with Beijing Jiaotong University for next year. The Dean also finalized the establishment of a program that will allow students from Jiaotong University to complete their first two years at their University and the last two years at the UNR College of Engineering to receive BS degrees from both institutions.

Diversify Nevada says meetings also took place on the trade mission with other universities in Hong Kong and the Republic of Korea to initiate discussions for the establishment of new collaborative efforts. The University of Nevada, Reno is in negotiations with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Dankook University and Ewha Womans University in Korea.
