Gulf Medical University established as Middle East headquarters for IMSA

Gulf Medical University was established as the headquarters of the Middle East Chapter of International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA) during the closing ceremony and convocation of their Annual Conference IMSACON 2012, which was held at Hotel Kempinski, Ajman.

IMSA is an Associate Member of Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences – CIOMS, Geneva. Mr. Thumbay Moideen has been nominated as the Patron of the IMSA Middle East Chapter and Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Provost GMU as the Chairperson of the Chapter.

The grand concluding ceremony of IMSACON 2012 was attended by His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin- Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council of U.A.E. and Ruler of Ajman, His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Members of the Royal Family of Ajman and officials from Ministry of Health, various government departments and hospitals. Prof. Ian Anderson, President Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, U.K. was the Guest of Honor.

His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council of U.A.E. and Ruler of Ajman was awarded the Honorary Fellowship of IMSA during the Convocation ceremony. In his Presidential remarks, Prof. Jagadeesan from IMSA said that His Highness was the first and only royalty till date in the world to receive this Fellowship.

“Your Highness, we are grateful to you for accepting this honor and IMSA will remember this gesture for many years to come,” he added.

“In recognition of the achievements in the fields of medical education and healthcare services, we are also pleased to award Honorary Fellowship to Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President, Board of Governors of Gulf Medical University, Ajman. IMSA places on record and recognizes Mr. Moideen’s exemplary vision in developing the university into a world class institution in a short span of time,” said Prof. Jagadeesan.

Gulf Medical University, Ajman hosted IMSACON 2012, an International Conference on Evidence Based Medicine – Scope and Challenges on the 6th & 7th of October 2012 at its campus in Ajman. The event is an annual conference of the International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA).

Leading experts from UAE, India, USA, Jordan and Iran addressed on various topics related to medicine, Surgery, Women’s health, Radiology & Diagnostics and Medical Education. The two day conference was accredited by Ministry of Health UAE for 11 CME hrs. Over 200 international and local delegates attended the conference.
