Loyola Marymount University moved up a notch to the No. 3 spot among the best regional universities in the West in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges.” LMU was ranked No. 4 last year.

LMU was also listed as a “Best Value” university in the category, which includes schools that offer a full range of undergraduate programs and master’s degrees.

Additionally, LMU’s Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering rose in the ranking of undergraduate engineering programs, landing in a six-way tie for the No. 25 spot.

“Our college works hard to keep our class sizes small and give our students individualized attention and hands-on experience,” said Richard G. Plumb, dean of the college. “Moving up two places in the U.S. News ranking shows that our focus on academic excellence is gaining notice.”
