According to a new study published, Coventry University features in the top ten of all universities for offering ‘best value’ to students.

The Student Value for Money Report 2012 considered the academic league table standings of 117 universities, as well as tuition fees and the local average rental prices, to calculate an overall score that indicates the value for money at each institution.

According to the study, published in the Telegraph newspaper, Coventry offers the best value amongst Modern universities across England, and is the best overall in the Midlands.   Also coming in fourth across England sandwiched between the University of Oxford and University of Birmingham.

Coventry scores particularly well on the cost of rental accommodation, coming in fourth lowest across the UK with an average of £58.50 per week.

Commenting on the result, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Marshall, said:

‘We are thrilled to see that Coventry University is leading the way in offering student’s excellent value for money, in addition to  high quality teaching and learning.  Our fees policy of matching what the student pays to the actual cost of delivery is also fairer to the student and the tax payer.”

“With rising tuition fees, as well as living costs, it has never been more important for us to deliver an outstanding student experience.”

This latest report also reflects an especially strong year for Coventry University – achieving a 21 place jump to 55th overall in The Times Good University Guide 2013, and 46th in the 2013 Guardian University league table.
