Goldsmiths recognised for excellence in supporting researchers

Goldsmiths, University of London has been awarded the European Commission HR Excellence in Research badge, which recognises institutional good practice in supporting the professional development of research staff. This accreditation confirms that the College is in alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers, and with the RCUK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers.

Professor Jane Powell, Pro-Warden for Research and Enterprise at Goldsmiths, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this award.  As a 1994 Group university, Goldsmiths has a strong reputation not only for internationally leading research but for cultivating a stimulating and supportive milieu which enables our staff to establish independent and successful careers.”

She added: “The College has invested in a range of activities and support systems to ensure that our research staff develop the knowledge, skills and confidence that will equip them to make important contributions to future national and international developments in research, policy, and practice.”

Goldsmiths was officially presented with the award on 3 September at the Vitae Researcher Development International Conference in Manchester.

Ellen Pearce, Director of Vitae and the UK representative on the European Commission HR Strategy Group made the announcements on behalf of the UK panel that reviews submissions: “Vitae are committed to enhancing the quality and output of the UK research base, through supporting the training and development of world-class researchers.”
