Eligibility: Predoctoral a) Doctoral student in one of the health sciences (Public Health, Medicine, Dental, Nursing, Veterinary, Biomedical Engineering). b) Completed all course work and preliminary examinations c) US Citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident Postdoctoral a) Completed MD or PhD degree; MD’s, preferably will have completed residency and currently funded by an NIH T32 grantor or K award to include surgeons, dermatologists, internists, pediatricians, neurologists, OB-GYN, pathologists and any subspecialty. b) Strong nomination by their current mentor/advisor. c) US Citizen, non-citizen national or permanent resident d) Two to three member teams applying to jointly conduct a research project will be considered. Each member of the team must be from a different health science for instance public health, medicine, and biomedical engineering

Scholarship Description: The Fogarty Global Health Fellows Training Program is a new program which provides an 11 month global health training experience. The program provides stipend support, travel, and a small research budget to trainees each year to work at one of our 17 international sites in Sub-Saharan Africa (Accra, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Kampala,Lilongwe, Lusaka, Rakai, Swaziland) , South America (Buenos Aires, Lima, Rio de Janeiro), India (Pune), Bangladesh, Thailand (Chiang Mai), or China (Bejing, Nanjing, Shanghai). Salaries for students are at the Fulbright level (approx $22,000) and for the post docs at the NRSA level depending on post graduate year (Contact Kathryn Salisbury to obtain a stipend estimate). If the applicant has an existing K award or other private source of funding, then Fogarty funds can be used to pay for travel and supplement research funding.
