SVSU signs science, math mentoring agreement with college in Ghana

Saginaw Valley State UniversityMichigan’s Saginaw Valley State University says it has agreed to aid a college in Ghana in developing its science, engineering and mathematics programs.

Saginaw Valley President Eric Gilbertson and Pentecost University College Rector Peter Ohene-Kyei signed a mentoring agreement.

Under the project, faculty in Saginaw Valley’s College of Science, Engineering and Technology will work with Pentecost faculty in engineering, health and computing.

Pentecost is working toward accreditation of several academic programs, starting with applied math and computer systems.

The relationship also calls for student exchanges and exploration of faculty exchanges and joint research projects. The two schools previously signed an agreement for general academic cooperation in October 2011.

Pentecost University College opened in the West African with 171 students in 2005 and now has about 3,800.
