Many student newcomers celebrating nation’s birthday for first time
What: 15th Annual NorQuest College Canada Day Celebration

Who: About 350 NorQuest English as a Second Language students will celebrate the country’s 145th birthday. Many of the students are new to Canada and will celebrate Canada Day for the first time.
Joining students will be the Honourable James Rajotte, MP for Edmonton-Leduc; the Honourable Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Culture and MLA for Edmonton-Glenora; City of Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel; and former Canadian Citizenship Judge Gurcharan Singh Bhatia. NorQuest College staff, board members and families of students will also be at the event.
Photo/video opportunities: Many students wearing traditional dress, waving Canadian flags and singing O Canada; student and guest speakers; music and entertainment from noon to 2 p.m. on the grounds across from the Westmount Campus.
Interviews: NorQuest students, College officials and community dignitaries will be available for interviews following the program. Student interviews hold strong human-interest potential as many students are new to Canada.
